Well, hello again.
I’ve been gone for quite some time now, mainly because at this very moment, I’m finishing up my college applications and I’m doing these on top of trying to complete all the other school work that I have been assigned. It’s not going very well.
I should say, I’m not doing too bad this year in terms of grades. Hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself there.
The way it works at my school is that the school doesn’t automatically send your first quarter grades to the colleges you are applying to; you have to go to your guidance counselor and tell them you would like your first quarter grades sent to the schools of your choice. I’m not sure if this is how it works anywhere else, but that’s how it works here. I’m happy to say that I made honor roll with my first quarter grades and I’m planning on sending them to my schools, some in Canada and some in New England.
What else has been going on…?
I’m struggling to find things to talk about because personally, these past few months since school started have gone by in a big ol’ blur. I’ll see if I can find some interesting things to talk with you about:
- I visited a school on Long Island that I really, really love. It’s known because of its good medical program and I’m definitely going to apply there. I had never actually been to Long Island before visiting this university but I have to say, it was so beautiful. Autumn was still golden there, the leaves were falling all around from the trees, and everything was red, orange, and yellow. I was also given a pretty much private tour of the university’s chemistry labs (since only me and this other girl were the ones who went to the tour) and it was so incredible seeing them, especially since school was in session at the time, so everything looked very much like it will if I go to school there.
- I took the SATs for the second time in November and my score went up 40 points! It may not seem like much of an improvement, but personally, I am very happy with my score. My aim was to improve my math section score, as my writing and grammar section was already pretty high, and that’s what I did (funnily enough, my writing and grammar section went down a little bit since last time; oh well).
- I’m surviving AP Calculus!!! I really am, though, and I’m doing better than I thought; I genuinely believed I would have dropped down to non-honors calculus, but I didn’t! This is definitely one of my more challening classes, but I’m happy that I’ve managed to stay afloat (with the help of my medium caramel iced coffees from Dunkin).
Besides this, nothing has changed much for me; I’m still breaking my back picking up 5-year-olds, still reading the weirdest books for AP English (has anyone ever read Beloved? Please help me, I can’t handle this book), and still trying to cut down my college essay to 650 words from my 743… I’ll let you know how it goes.
